Unable to map VU Duo USB drive on my Windows PC

Dave Wood

Vu+ Newbie
Hi,
Can some one help?

I have a VU Duo plus runing BH 1.79 with an internal 1TB drive. It is nearly full so I have formatted an external 1TB USB drive EXt3, changed the recording path accordingly and connected it to the front USB connector on the VU. Using Open Web I/F on my PC I can see both drives and can select either and stream to my PC. The extra Drive is working well.

If I run Core FTP on my Windows PC I can also see both drives and transfer data between the drives and the PC.
To make things simple the Internal VU drive is mapped directly as BS750\harddisk and appears as a mapped drive short link on my PC desktop. I would like to do the same with USB drive. Is this possible? other than using FTP or open web I/f I have been unsuccessful. I have tried \\root autofs sda 1 sdb 1 and media paths but it will not access through the Samba interface. Both drives are mounted in device manager. I am sure I am doing something stupid here so help appreciated.

Thanks

You should configure Samba on your box to share also the USB drive mapping and not only the HDD map.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I have looked at the samba/cifs screen and with my setup (1.79)it does not give me the opportunity to specify mapping only stop/start or autostart. Is there another samba config screen I have missed or a command structure via telnet?
Regards
Dave

If you want to add other mapping other than the default one, you must edit manually the /etc/smb.conf file.
