updating Blackhole 2.0.8 to latest with my personal backup

Hi all

Im Matt, I have a vu+ solo2 box and its currently running Blackhole 2.0.8 and I would like to update it to the latest blackhole.
Now iv done a personal backup and a full backup.

but I have been told that I cannot use my personalbackup wont I have update as it wont work something about a new kernel or something.

just wondering if I update how do I get ammy my settings, cams and configs back onto my box please
