Updating VU+ DUO via the Internet

Vu+ Newbie
When choosing update within the VU+ DUO, what will be updated.
The ver 5.4 image or the VIX ver 1.2 - when doing so is all settings gone.
Sorry I am a real newbe in this and would like to upgrade everything.
