vu+ button not working

can anyone help please? my vu+ button will work ok for a day or so then stop completely for a day or even longer. It seems to work ok in the morning when it does work, that is, then after about 4pm or so it just stops working. The thing is though, that if I switch the telly off, the button functions perfectly. I can change channels, use volume etc. it is very frustrating having to count down recorded files and how many moves down the menu to go, then turning the telly back on. I have to sit with the tv and vu+ buttons most nights.Any suggestions or help would be really appreciated.
 
It's not clear the issue you're talking about.
What receiver do you have?
You are talking about receiver buttons or remote control buttons?
If you are talking about remote control, did you try to change its batteries?

I think he has a tv, probably plasma, which interfers with the infra-red sensor of the vuplus.

Solution, either move the receiver, or put a "mask" made of paper or plastic in order to have the sensor of the receiver no more exposed to the signal sent by the plasma tv.
