VU+ Duo recording problem.

Hi all,

I've been having a problem recently with my VU+ Duo box. It's pretty much always showing on the front panel that it is recording, but it actually isn't as far as I can tell. Looking at movies, there is nothing new there. It's annoying because it takes up the tuner that my motorised dish is connected to effectively rendering it useless (No free tuner!)

I have used my box for streaming my tuner to other devices in my house and I do know that the record icon does show on the front panel in that instance. I imagine it starts recording a temporary file, and then exposes that file across the network. Thinking that something may be going on, I disabled the tuner server just to be sure it wasn't something like that. The problem still persists.

I flashed my box with a fresh image, latest 3.0.1

It's nothing to do with a *******, as they are disabled.

I can restart my box and within a few minutes it's recording again and the tuner inaccessible.

Now, interestingly, I disabled my network adapter, and the problem goes away. Turn it back on and the recording starts again after a short while. This makes me think that something, or someone is trying to access my box via a stream, similar to what I do with my other devices. The only thing is, the tuner server is disabled.

I'm a bit confused by this. Can anyone shed some light?

A quick update: I used tcpdump to find traffic just to my box and discovered requests to my external IP in the form of the server tuner links. i.e http://X.X.X.X:8001/1:0:1:6FEE:42A:1:C00000:0:0:0:

A quick google for that link and found that my tuner streams with my external IP were shared somewhere. That raises a couple of questions, 1) how has that happened, and b) why is the tuner being shared even though the tuner server is actually disabled.

I have remedied the situation by blocking access to port 8001 on requests into my network.

The only way to solve proble is to close the 8001 and 80 ports from your router directed to your box.
Someone stole TV from your box.

Yeah, I had already done that. I was just curious how the server was still active even though the Tuner Server is disabled. Maybe the tuner server is just responsible for generating and sharing the m3u files? The actual links in the m3us work all the time.
