Vu+ Duo2 ATSC Black Hole v2.0.6 Rev. B

This image is in ALPHA STAGE

NewBlackHole.jpg

This is the first BH image with initial and very experimental ATSC support for our friends who lives in an ATSC country and they have a Vu+ box.

Please be careful with this image: it's ALPHA SOFTWARE.

IF YOU LIVE IN A DVB COUNTRY, USE STANDARD BH IMAGE.

The main purpose / developement status of this image is:
  • implement ATSC USB device detection
  • implement ATSC OTA (Over The Air) channels
  • implement ATSC CATV (Cable) channels
  • implement ATSC scan on both systems
  • implement ATSC EPG system
Some of these points are in advanced state of developement and others aren't explored at this time but I live in a DVB-only country and I cannot test if something work or not and what I need to complete the implementation.

In this Board Area you can post anything you want about ATSC support and ideas.
Remember to respect our Board rules :)

Ready to test! The alpha file in post 1 of this thread has been loaded into my receiver.

I have four DVB-S2 tuners installed in my Duo2. Nothing seems to happen when I plug the ATSC tuner in the bottom back usb port. What am I doing wrong or what am I missing?

Thanks. EB

I hope the attached file is correct. If not, let me know.

My USB Device = Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-850 NTSC/ATSC USB TV Tuner.

Also, This USB Device was tested on my computer at the time of purchase.
Thanks. EB

I suggest to use Putty to issue command via telnet to your box instead of other systems (like DCC/VUCC).
Can you send these commands and report the output?

Code:
lsusb
cat /proc/bus/usb/devices

Done.
Dmesg via Telnet attached.

Ok your device is correctly detected .....
Try to make a channel search on ATSC tuner.
I've included into image a very simple atsc.xml file with some frequencies taken from another TV software avaiable for Linux ....
I don't know what happen .... when I come back to home I'll study a solution to report Enigma2 output here

I've also included into the image a useful utility to make channel scan and determine if all works properly excluding Enigma2 software, just for debug purposes of course.
I'll include some scripts to be invoked by hand during a telnet session.

OK.
I cannot do anything else. The box crashes when I press OK on ATSC provider (see screenshot).

The box also crashes when the blindscan plugin is selected, whereas before, blindscan worked.

I also have FileZilla if you have a need for it.

I need to clarify.
Nothing happens OK on ATSC Provider. The box crashes when the right arrow is pressed which is an error on my part. Please check and make sure my crash log information is useful. I got it from the HDD folder.

It's not your fault don't worry.
In that panel there should be the possibility to choose between Transponder lists.
I've flashed my Duo2 with your same image and the issue is confirmed.
I'll look into the code and into the image what's wrong

Much Improved but still not working. It acts as if the antenna is not connected. The USB devcie and antenna have been tested to work.
Also, my area is not available. I am near Atlanta, Georgia.
Automatic scan fails. Manual scan fails, even with frequency changed. The Service Scan menu appears immediately after starting a scan which makes me think the receiver does not see a signal or antenna connected.
