Vu Duo2 Updating XML File

Vu+ User
I have a Vu Duo 2 still running the Older Image 2.1.6 and want to replace the old Sat XML Files.
Can someone please tell me the correct path so I can FTP'd via Core FTP to the box.
Is it /var/etc OR /etc/tuxbox or other.
Thank you.

Use filezilla to access your box
Highlight the root "/"
Press F3 on your (windows) keyboard
That opens a search window
In the "Filename" "Contains" field type the extension .XML and you will get all the places on your box where the xxxxx.XML files are stored.
Better still, type the name of the file you are looking for, including the extension and the result will give you the path.

Thank you.

By default, satellites.xml is located in: /etc/tuxbox

Finally after all this time I today decide to update to the latest Sat XML Files due to new Sats in our region. I used the Sat Generator from http://satellites-xml.eu/ and used the CHOOSE option and once finished I FTP'd it in to ETC/TUXBOX on the Vu Duo2. I then rebooted the box and found that in reception settings either my C-Band or KU-Band Satellites or on a dual satellite, all of them was missing (i forgot which one as one of them was missing). After going back to the satellites-xml.eu site I found the option (first i exited and reloaded the program) "Split different band transponders" where I ticked the option box and also unticked the other box "Same position for all split bands" (tried this option ticked or unticked) and downloaded the xml file again and once i rebooted all the satellites and satellites with both C and KU Band from 91.5E to 177W were all in there. Now after doing this and checking my reception settings ill give you an example Intelsat 19 had C band and KU Band. I was all happy but when I went back to my Satellite list the down button and hit the green button all my 20 satellites appeared but the problem was all my C-band satellites were showing they were KU Band. Everything else was still good but showing a KU considering it should be C Band.

After this I used DVB Edit and i reloaded all my channels and satellites as i took a copy of this before i started. Once i uploaded it to the Duo2 and added my settings on each satellite in reception settings, all was fine.

What in the hell could I have been doing wrong? I did notice the sat.xml file that i downloaded was not zipped this time. Or i was doing something terribly wrong. Again after I used my existing sat.xml file with the new satellite missing all satellites were perfect which included fixed DISEqC 1.1 Ku Sats and Motor C Band DISEqC 1,2 Satellites.

What exactly are you wanting to do? What are you trying to edit or add???

Default for satellites.xml is "etc/tuxbox"
IF you install the satellites.xml in "etc/enigma2", it will also work. The etc/tuxbox location is a system file location and is subject to updates. But if satellites.xml is installed in "etc/enigma2", then the receiver uses it and ignores satellites.xml in etc/tuxbox.

I think for what you are doing, etc/enigma2 is the best place to put the satellites.xml. If there are problems, simply remove the satellites.xml from etc/enigma2, reboot the box, and the satellites.xml in etc/tuxbox will be used.
