VU+ Solo keeps crashing

Jules

Vu+ Newbie
Hi Guys,
I have a VU+ Solo. It has been working fine with BH image I installed a few years back.
I have a CI Conax cam with Canal digital card. Over the last few weeks the channels received by this cam started to get unsteady pictures. I needed an image with high bitrate support for this cam. I updated to latest BH and I could whatch it again. After a while the box crashed and power of and on was the only way to get it going again. I have tried loads of different images and softcams but same problem happens. It sometimes will work for a few hours then crash. I have read various forums and found a lot of recommended cams, images and procedures which I have tried. Again still crashing.

Hope one of you Guys can help me.
Thanks.
Regards,
Jules.

Thanks for the input again. I actually installed the latest BH image again around 5:30pm and apart from 1 green screen and 1 freeze initally, it is still working.
As I mentioned earlier about possible power supply problems, I forgot to say over the last couple of days when I put it into standby (red LED) a couple of times, after a few hours it had come on (green LED) but had crashed with frozen picture. This could be another thing pointing to power supply do you think?

Cheers,
Jules.

The only suggestion I can offer is to keep the box as clean as possible (without CAM, HDD, keep only a USB pendrive connected) to reduce the power consumption to the lowest and see if the box still crashes.
If no crashes will occur, this could be a good point in favor of a power supply deterioration.

Thanks Eragon, good suggestion. At the moment box is still working after last install.
If it crashes again I will do what you say.
Thanks
Regards,
Jules.

Hi Guys, yes it crashed many times again. This afternoon I disabled the ******* and just left my CI cam in and it's been working perfectly. Still working now.
I am looking around forums and I think maybe there may be a way of increasing memory size with a pen drive. Maybe it's not got enough mem to cope with the later firmware and addons. If anyone could help me allocate the pen drive to expand the memory, I would be really grateful.

Regards,
Jules.
