Hi,

I wonder if you can please help me with the following questions or kindly point me in the right direction for the Vu Ultimo running BH2.02 Rev E:-

- What is the factory default telnet and ftp passwords for the above receiver and are they normally the same passwords?
- How can you change the assigned passwords for telnet and ftp, either from the PC or the receiver end (pluggin)?
- Is it likely that any differences between them (ie. Telnet & FTP passwords) could affect a pluggin such that it can not connect via FTP to update it files / settings?

Many thanks in advance, for all your help.

With kind regards.

1) default user = root without password
2) Sure. You must login into your box via Telnet and issue the command
Code:
passwd
You will be asked to digit your new password and press ENTER
Retype the new password and press ENTER

3) The password change cover SSH, Telnet, FTP and OpenWebif services.

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

I have also discovered (still a learning newbie) that under the Black Hole Feed Pluggins there are 2 plugins called 'PasswordChanger' and 'Setpasswd' and I assume that they both provide the same password change functionality. In your opinion, is there any preference as to which one should be used?

Am I correct in assuming that the passwords on the Vu Ultimo receiver do NOT get reset to factory defaults if a brand new BH image is re-installed via USB stick. Is the password is actually stored within the backup files or within the receiver's onboard memory?

Many thanks in advance, for all your help.

With kind regards.

I think it's not important in wich manner you change the password: the result is the same

About the password storage, if you flash another image, the password is resetted to the default of the image you flash. If you restore a backup the root password of the backup will be installed.
