Weekly timer vs. standby

If I set a weekly timer for recording, will the event wake up the tuner from standby, or does it need to stay turned on the whole time?

Also, if I set the box to go to standby after the event, instead of leaving the setting on auto, which is default setting, will it also wake up, or stay in standby after the event and not continue recording next week?

You can record ALWAYS, either from stand-by or from deep standby: after all you could have tried by yourself with a simple experiment. Can you image what disaster would be using a STB if not so? ;)
What you have to care about is not that you cannot record but what happens to your TV when your STB wakes up from deep standby...
Depending on your HDMI-CEC settings, it might turn on as well.
