FYI, you don't need swap if you have lot of RAM, but if you have some applications which uses lot of ram, then you can get OOM Killer in action (Out Of Memory Killer), and then some random process is killed to free some memory.

But i don't think it's critical on VU+, it's really interresting on the server when OOM Killer kill ssh daemon, and you have no chance to access the server via network :)
