Request wrong firmware flashing

I'm reading more and more about people bricking there vu+ boxes by flashing wrong model specific image on there boxes. Is it a possibility that our great image coders can incorporate some sort of fail safe in the image to prevent the box from being flashed in the event of wrong image download. I'm no programmer and have no insight into coding its only a suggestion of if its possible?

The bad flash does not apply to the original receiver, because the flash does not pass. (it goes only if the receiver is a clone)
this logic can occur can be when you put a bad drivers.
