Of course, it's much healthier to do manual scans according to your own configuration, but people mostly prefer them for "precompiled bouquets" which are really convenient at times, rather than "precompiled lamedb".

"Lamedb" and "precompiled" are not two related words.
To prefer other settings and being slave of them, yes, they are. But you can do what you like with these very useless settings: this is the time of lazy people: so I'm not surprised.
I'll be, instead, always the manager and the owner of my decoder and it's ME to decide how organise my channels.
