720p vs 1080i

Hi Guys,

My Panasonic is Plasma 50 inch 1080p. What will be the best image quality set up in my VU+ uno. Should I set the A/V setting to 720p and use autoresolution plugin to force SD channels to 576p

What is your recommendations? how is your system set up?

I've setted up my Uno (connected to my Samsung in sign) @ 1080i :)

Yes, i also setted my tv to @1080p with my uno

I tested this much time (about 1 year). For best results do this:

1. In AV setting put default 576i (with this setting have not downscaling on SD channels,so we get best result)
2. In Autoresolution set this:

a) default
b) default
c) 576p
d) 576p
e) HD inter - 1080i
f) HD deinter - 720p

all other like write in left part.
On the end 2 last setting turned off.

3. Video enhancements

a) Scaler - 0
b) sharpness scaler - 0

Save all.

It should be there, any way U can download from the server addons!
green>yellow>>ok>>>BHImage Plugins...ok.
check the list,,,and download!

I have the same TV,,,@ A/V 1080i,,,!!
And no need to use Auto-resolution,,,may be U can play ( adjust color to your liking) with video enhancement settings!
 
With seted 1080i in AV without autoresolution and VE ,You will have poorer quality on SD channls because tv work downscaling.
I tested this in last few years and I told what give the best results !
 
I was that disappointed with the picture quality on SD, I was seriously considering switching to a another manufacturer of receiver... Luckily for me I stumbled across this VERY useful post.

Change your TV,,,,,,:D!
No need for autoresolution...now days TV sets are far better than Tv's few years ago!

For movies and normal TV ( SD or HD) watching,,,PLASMA more suited!
For video games and PS3....etc....LCD is good!

Just my opinion,,,,,as a TV user since the Black&White sets and a SAT fanatic...:suda:!

I have Plasma tv 15 days "old" , Panasonic P42G30 , maybe the best plasma in midle class of this year.
Problem is not in tv. I am a very experienced with this and this is my opinion after really much testing.

Thank you, that really improved the image on my plasma TV, especially for the SD channels.
 
The only annoying thing with Autoresolution is that the skin resolution fall down when switching to SD channel, which makes the skin and he fontd look ugly.
 
I have found another solution, i installed VU+ Uno Driver from 17.08.2011 and picture is now very good, without autoresolution, the problem with quality is the driver, newer version picture looks bad
