Help with timeshift

can anyone point me how i do timeshift when i press red buttom recording says no HDD found or HDD not initalised! i have usb pluged in whith my piicons .

so what are the steps i need to make to get timeshift working

using 2.0.8

Moreover, to use timeshift you have to press the pause button.
