HowTo USALS motorized dish and SCR/UNICABLE LNB

At first I would like to thank to angelofsky1980 for updating my knowledges, to tilleke for an input and levi for his motorized dish tutorial.

For those, who has only one cable from motorized dish and want to use a full power of twin tuner Vu+ box, here is a guide, how to obtain 4 independent sat signals on one cable and to be able to control a motorised dish too.

I used USALS SG-2100 motor, Humax LNB 151 SCR and Solo2 with BH 2.0.4 for testings.
Sat cable connected to Tuner B and I used internal loop to Tuner A (without external splitter).

Channel SCR1 for Tuner B and SCR3 for Tuner A. (I used these to compare cable attenuation on higher frequencies of SCR, I consider to use SCR2 for Tuner A and SCR1 as is for Tuner B)

Tests done on Astra 23,5E and Hotbird 13,0E.

At first, your motorised dish MUST BE perfectly aligned. If it's not, USALS will never work well.

1. connect your motor output to SCR LNB input.
2. set your Tuner B for Astra 23,5

Done.

You can add by this way any sat you want. Be sure to insert your correct longitude and latitude in every configuration (Tuner A and B) and set "slave" Tuner A as connected to Tuner B.

Feel free to comment and write your suggestions, bugs you'll find and please, report your tests results on other Vu+ boxes.

Hi, I have performed setup on my VU+ DUO2 with 2.0.4 image, using LNB Inverto Unicable IDLB-QUDL42-UNI2L-1PP using motor SR2100. Can confirm, that it is working flawlessly! Great LNB improved my reception quality by 15%-20%. I recommend it to all people, who think about buying unicable LNB.

Paolino, thank you very much for this guide i appreciate it.

The other people has recommended, that the only solution is duo LNB and duo cable, and could not confirmed, that it would work with motor. Now everything is working and it took 10 minutes to set it up.
My one suggestion for setup is to setup LNB on standard LNB input, and once the signal is strong enough, I reconnected the cable into unicable input and then continued with setup on the box. In a case of issues, you can be sure, that the issues are not connected with LNB wrong setup and not wrong setup in the box.

Hi dimensione, you are the first one to report unicable operating correctly with VuDuo2. Last Friday I've tried to do the same and gave-up. I thought it is not possible (yet).
I've got VuDuo2 with 2x double DVB-S2 (four inputs), Inverto Unicable Quad and SG2100 (usals). I use VTI.
Could you describe how you've connected single cable to your VuDuo2, please? Is it with external cable (loop-through) or it was possible without it.
Option with external cable is not for me since double DVB-S2 module doesn't have output.

I wonder why I wasn't able to find correct application for unicable? With my old VuDuo - I succeed after few minutes.
Maybe it was specific problem of my VuDuo2 which is now in service (power supply unit failure).
It seems 4 heads and 2TB 3,5' HDD it is too much for VuDuo2, even if hard drive is EcoGreen. After 5 hours of operation with this configuration PVR has died.
The worst thing is I've lost my 3-years archive, over 1,3TB of data, my HDD is dead, I would never expect to met such problem with very new device.

yes, it is working for me. I use two signgle DVB-S2 modules connected and I have them looped with external cable. I think, when you use double DVB-S2, you can loop tuners internally as reported by Paolino (see above screenshots). The problem is, that you cannot make in a loop all 4 DVB-S2 tuners, as there is no output connector. But I think, that with Inverto Unicable Quad package, you have received unicable splitter, so you can use it to add a cable into additional 2xDVD-S2 module. Then, you can setup separate SRs for each tuner.

So far, I have only one issue, and it is, when I use PIP for some channel, and I want to watch the other channel on full screen, althought, the same satellite, I can see motor sign on the screen and it takes approximately 3-5 seconds, when the program appears.

I've tried my inverto quad with old VuDuo and found that only half of the modules is operational - frequency 1210 and 1680 are ok but not 1420 neither 2040. Also one legacy module is faulty - signal is absent.
Bad luck, pity.
But even these operationals modules deliver weaker signal then my 3-years old double converter. So I decided to go for traditional quad with 4 cables. My antena is too small, sensivity of VuDuo2 is not so good thus I think traditional quad would better do.
You are right, I received Inverto unicable with splitter but it has got only 2 outputs but I need 4 for 2x double S2 tuners, I think, setting Paolino presented, apply to the configuration where each module receives its own signal and second tuner on the same module receives signal through internal loop. Internal loop means just setting but it can be applied to second tumer on the same board only, so it is not possible to set this internal loop between double DVB=S2 modules.

@Paolino could you comment, please? Am I wrong? It is interesting to know if internal loop can deliver signal from one double module to the other one.
Unfortunately my VuDuo2 is still in service, I can't check it by my own - but I'm better now since my old HDD is not faulty and my collection is still available.
 
Jedpod, it is strange, that your signal for unicable LNB was worse compared your old LNB. I replaced my old LNB which was Diavolo 0,1 dB, and I can see, that the signal quality increased by 10-15%. On the other way, I have 2 separate DVB-S2 modules installed in my receiver. Maybe, there modules are able to process the signal compared to double DVB-S2 modules.

For looping, I was thinking, that in a case, you have one double DVB-S2 tuners on single module, you can use internal loop, as you don't have output connector to make the loop with external cable. In this case, you would need only one splitter just to connect one tunner on the module.
 
Unicable is nice solution, I like it.
My old converter was: 0,1dB made by DIAMOND and after replacement I couldn't get the same signal strength (75% before against 65% with unicable). I've tried to tune my dish but 65% is the best I can get.
My unicable is broken so it could be reason for worse signal, if you confirm that unicable is not so bad I'm going to give it one more chance, but need to wait for the replacement.

Regarding internal loop - I understand it is just setting, just these 2 parameters:
  1. connected: yes
  2. Connected to: Tuner B BCM7356 DVB-S2 NIM (internal) DVB-S2
as presented on screenshots by Paolino.
I'm not sure if user can choose any tuner here or only second one from the same module. Probably I could choose any - I remember that had problem with tuner numbering, couldn't determine which one is tuner A (upper connector from the left-hand board or right-hand) and which ona is B (bottom from the left-hand module or maybe upper from the right-hand) and of course the same for tuner C and D. It seems to be very easy job but please keep in mind that only half of my unicable is useable. I gave up with statement - unicable is not right choice for VuDuo2 yet. If user can choose any tuner - internal loop should be applicable for both modules as well, thus no splitter would be required.
I'll check it of Friday (of course only if my VuDuo2 will be back from the service)
 
i have been attempting to set up the usals on
the motor but the coordinates for my location are not accepted when i try to input them
i got the settings from dishpointer they are
Latitude: 54.1705°

Longitude: -4.4397°
do i have to convert these settings to input them?

Hi, I can confirm, that with my unicable LNB the signal increased. Today, I have from 78 to 98%.
 
Hey guys. I have 1 lnb connected to my motor and to Tuner B. I'm having incredible issues with storing satellites. I've put in my long & lat but it's really hard. Also, how do you block/remove the adult channels?

If you use USALS protocol (lat & long) it's not necessry to store sat positions because they are calculated by box and rotor.
This is valid with Simple setup -> Positioner and also with Advanced -> Unicable setup with DisecQ mode 1.2 enabled.
 
I'm very new. Since waiting the HDD then I'll start. I'm reading a lot of things but I'm not able to to give order. What is above (unicable solution is smart and welcome) but before of this, or together, you should indicate what a newbie should do exactly. Should download the official vu+ 2.1 image, better to charge 2.0.5 BH image. Are they compatible or to charbe BH image you have to remove the official ones. I think the box will come with a default version, to charge the ultimate BH you have to remove it,how? Or you can have it overwritten?
Then there's on order to flash files, before installing 2.0.5 u have to upgrade VFD to Ver.2. I've read of a 2.0.5 release A and B but I'm not able to find the last one. Why do not prepear a sort of quick manual for lovers?
Too questions but I think u've got the meaning. Is there any volunteer to help me?
 
Let me add some other. But BH image must be downloaded inside box's RAM or could be even in USB itself leaved in the box as additional memory? Is it possible to "manufacture" a "BH USB" having inside everything one would like to have, then insert it in the box or not.
How to inform the box ..." run std or run BH" ? Thanks

Hello Guys,

Today i recived Inverto USALS
IDLB-QUDL42-UNI2L-1PP
for my VuDuo2 ( Dual DVB-S) and i would like to do it like that:

Tuner 1/A - Usals with Unicable
Tuner 2/B - 13.0E with Unicable - Not Avaible when i`m using rotor on diferent position.
When i`m backing to 13.0E then this tuner are ready to work.

It will be perfected for me when it will be possible to move dish usingTuner A, and when it will be kept on 13E then i can used Tuner B to records or watch diferent channel on streaming.
Is it possible to do it ?

I also saw that the AGC value go down from 75% ( Normal Input ) to 0-1 % ( Unicable Input ) Do you know is it normal ?
