*.mkv and subtitle

I have trouble getting subtitles when I play some *. mkv files on the box.
I press the audio button, and yellow button, but here is no list of the different subtitles.
If I try to play the same file on the PC with vlc I get up the different choices for the text.
What can I do to get this up on my Vu + Duo?

The subtitle have the exactly same name as video .mkv file??
Should be this way (an example):

ABCD12r.mkv ->> ABCD12r.srt

I think Stig-O is referring to a muxed subs inside .mkv.
The only way I've found is to start movie, jump ahead with numeric keys, and then go back to start.
Now most (but not all) subs tracks appear.
The worst think (for me), is that forced subs are not enabled by default...

The solution from @Max did not work for the movie I tried to play.
Will there be a fix that allows us to choose muxed subs inside *.mkv?
