I'm wondering which will be the real advantages of Python3 in future OBH: will it mean to have more powerful tools for the image itself or for the plugins, for instance?

I'm on another open based image with Python3 since a few days and I can tell you everything is faster, especially HbbTV performance is brill!
On the other hand there are some annoying compatibility issues - I lost two of my plugins (TS Sateditor was a big loss), and still trying to adapt my customised skin file to work properly with new renderers.

Why doesn't hbbtv work in Italy?

It will work everywhere as long as the original transmission is received directly from satellite.
But if you receive the channel via some provider package or a custom box, it may not work if not mirrored.
For example RTL channel's HbbTV works both on original TP on 19.2E and as part of Kabelio package on 13E, but it doesn't work on Neosat package on 1.9E
