RCU volume - no reaction

Very often my box doesn't response to my RCU volume. I have to press the volume button few times to get it working (brand new batteries).
 
Does the red led under the TV-on/off button flash each time you press the volume button? In my case the contacts of the rcu have become worse after some month of use and I have to press strongly to get a reaction. Only if the red led is flashing the ir led is flashing, too. You can test the function of the ir led by observing this led on a camera display, too. The picture sensor of cameras is capable of seeing the ir light and you see it on the life display.

No, I don't thing so.

Is exactly as you say. The red led (and IR) does not always flash every time I press the volume button. I have to press harder then usual to get it work. It's abnormal, isn't it?. Thanks.
My box is still under warranty, shall I claim a replacement?
