VU+ Duo 2 Which Tuners-LNB's

waverunner

Vu+ Newbie
Dear all.

i'm ready to order the top rated VU+ Duo 2 receiver but I have doubts choosing the right Tuners,
i appreciate any help from your knowledge.

i would like to connect with two satelites (Astra-Hotbird).
I would like to have the option to watch a channel on A or B satellite & be able to record at the same time another channel on A or B satellite.

- Can PVR give me the option to freeze the channel i watch, press Rewind and play again ?
- I need LNB's with double connectors ?
- Which tuners do i have to choose in my order ?

My Vendor in my country giving me the following options:
(don't know if somewhere else any other combination is available).

VU+ DUO2 HDTV 1.3 GHz 1xDVB-S2 SINGLE TUNER SAT RECEIVER Linux.
Vu+Duo2 Combo HD DVB-S2/T/C SAT RECEIVER Linux.
VU+ DUO2 HDTV 1.3 GHz Twin S2 Tuner SAT RECEIVER Linux.
VU+Duo2 HDTV 1.3 GHz TRIPLE DVB-S2/S2-DVB-C/T Tuner COMBO SAT RECEIVER Linux.

Please advise which combination (LNB's & Tuners) will cover my needs.
Thanks in advance for support.

If you don't have a terrestrial antenna you don't need the DVB-T2 tuner (the DVB-T tuner is obsolete).

You need 2 DVB-S2 tuners, better choose the dual tuner module.

To be able to watch/record 2 channels from the same satellite at the same time, you need a double dual-feed system, i.e. 2 dual-feed cables from the sat antenna, therefore you need 2 LNBs (1 Astra, 1 Hotbird) with 2 outputs each and 2 DiSEqC switches.

More complex setup might be arranged using Unicable systems and multiswitches.

Dear Eragon.

I appreciate your fast reply.
Your answer telling me to choose the 3rd option --> VU+ DUO2 HDTV 1.3 GHz Twin S2 Tuner SAT RECEIVER Linux.

The only thing left blank to me is concerning PVR --> Can PVR give me the option to freeze the channel i watch, press Rewind and play again ?
Forgive my unexperienced following question, why do i need DiSEqC switches when i have independent cables from LNB's to the tuner's. ?
Unicable systems it's something uknown to me,, something for the future :)
Thanks anyway.

You could use the Permanent Timeshift plugin.

If I've correctly understood your situation, your 2 cables coming 1 from Astra and 1 from Hotbird won't allow you to watch/record at the same time 2 channels both from Astra (or both from Hotbird).

I was planning to change my single LNB's with Dual connections , so i'm gone have 4 cables , 2 for Astra & 2 Hotbird.
you had suggest me to choose ---> 2 DVB-S2 tuners, dual tuner module..
That's why i understood on my VU+Duo2 i'm gone have 4 cables, two connections for each Tuners-LNB's.
Do i miss something >?

i attach a photo of example.
is this as you suggest me on your previous message ?? --->> 2 DVB-S2 tuners, better choose the dual tuner module. ???

You don't need 4 cables if you gonna have only 2 sat tuners in the box.
You need to connect each pair of cables from the LNBs to a DiSEqC switch (port A: Astra, Port B: Hotbird).
So you'll have 2 DiSEqC switches from which only 2 cables come out to your 2 tuners.

Think i've got it..
Is this diagram what i need to fix ??
Thanks
