Avermedia Volar HD A835, 0 services found

Vu+ Newbie
Hi all,

I have a Vu+ Duo with BH 1.6.6.
I am trying to setup an Avermedia Volar HD dvbt tuner.
I get "0 services found" after a scan ( automatic and manual on verified good frequency ).
I have tried with a self powered usb hub - same result.
I checked the stick on a computer and it found all chanels available.

Here is the result of dsmesg

Thanks !!!

It's all OK. Your DVB-T device is correctly detected.
If you have multiple USB devices like pendrives please shutdown your box, disconnect all USB devices except the USB DVB-T device and retry search services.
If this process works you need an external powered hub USB.

The dvb T tuner is the only usb device connected to my box.
I also tried with a powered usb hub with only the dvb T tuner connected and I have the same result.
I use the antena on the roof of the house. When connected to the stick on the computer I get 100% signal strength on all chanels.
Any other idea?
Thanks !!!

I found this info about french dvbt services and it may be relevant:
The center frequency of the broadcast may be shifted an ofset.

Center Frequency = 474 MHz + (chanel number - 21) * 8MHz + offset

The value of this ofset can be : -166KHz, +166KHz, +333KHz, or +500KHz.
This is a specificity of the french broadcasting system only which I happen to depend on.
Can it be that the scan routine in the current vu duo image does not implement the possibility of this ofset and thus does not find the services?
The software on the computer may take this into account and find all the services.
I remember that when the dvb t service was introduced in my area, a lot of dvb t set top box already sold had to receive a firmware update for them to work.
Can this be my problem? Any idea???
Thank you again !!!!!!:D

Hello. I have the same problem with BH 1.6.6 and Avermedia Volar HD , when I do a channel scan does not find one, I only work putting a list of channels.
In previous versions of BH if it has worked simpre automatic search, so you must be a problem of BH 1.6.6

regards

Can someone give me an example of the data files related to dvb-t in /etc/enigma2 (userbouquet file, equivalent of lamedb ...)
I will try to build mine manually instead of using scan.
Thanks!!!!!

I received my Sky IT DVB-T stick A867 and it works very well. It is very cheap on Fleebay so I would recommend it to anyone looking for a stick.

New findings:

1- I eddited the terrestrial.xml to modify the center frequency: add the offset to Fc ( in my case 332 kHz) - see post before
2- The scan process takes longer than indicated by the display. You have wait for about one minute after the stb displays "scan done" for the chanels to be found. If you press a key before, the process is stopped.
3- You need the powered usb hub. without the hub, the stick is initialized but you get very poor or no signal.
4- The Avermedia volar HD A835 is not very sensitive when connected to vuduo. On the computer the signal was 100% and picture quality very good. On the duo, the signal was between 57% and 61% and the picture quality was bad sometimes (same antena outlet used).
5- I will try to borrow another powered usb hub to test. Perhaps the one I used did not deliver enough power... I don't think so but I will try.
6- For me, I will get another dvb-t stick, perhaps the Nova T. I have read lot of positive posts and seemed to have better support.
7- Is it possible for Angel or other programmer to correct the "scan done" problem? This was the issue that side tracked me in the debugging process.

I hope this can be usefull to other people.

hello, few problems with the usually used nota-td (low signal on 2 channels) and so i tried to buy a "avermedia volar green hd"
but it is not recognized by the duo (i tested with the "volar green hd" and with the "a835" driver)

Very strange.
The infos shows that your device is the canonical A835 device.
I will make a search into source code ....

with good peace of the dvb-t box device with reports : lower power eco-friendly :)
np with a dvd player and the nova-td stick, and with just this one a little "power" disaster :p

about 20% more of signal strenght (compared to the nova-t/td and in the past glitching channles)
BUT with a scan: 0 channels found (obv correctly setup in menu..tuner..)

i'll try something in the next days (any tips is well accepted)

Any idea???
Thank you again !!!!!!:D
sorry, source? this only with the a835 device?
thanks

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD :D
well, looking in the web someone told about test others terrestrial.xml..
but why?

well just a fast test, took the reference one (very old one from a site.. )
tested and woked
so i take the default one that i hve in the bh, just added this string in the first locale dvb-t frequecy (in my case the europe dvb-t):
Code:
  code_rate_hp="0" code_rate_lp="6" guard_interval="3" transmission_mode="1" hierarchy_information="0" inversion="2" />

to the aleady present
<transponder centre_frequency="474000000" bandwidth="0" constellation="3" />

so become:
<transponder centre_frequency="474000000" bandwidth="0" constellation="3" code_rate_hp="0" code_rate_lp="6" guard_interval="3" transmission_mode="1" hierarchy_information="0" inversion="2" />
maybe one of that param is needed just one time.. ( ihaven't tested wich one is needed but now works and so here is enough ... )
adding that one just on the first uhf freq was enough for have a succesfully a835 scan :D
