Minor issue 1.
If you disable your standard dvb-c/t tuners (slot a-c) so only your dvb-s2 and usb tuners is enabled.
Then it is not possible to do a automatic channel search on dvb-t, dvb-t can not be selected, only dvb-s is present
In the manual channel search the usb-tuner is selectable

Issue 1: (possible driver related)
Hauppauge pctv nanostick t2 290e usb-tuner is not finding any dvb-t channels, only dvb-t2 channels is found

Best regards

Thanks for looking in to this angelofsky1980

Issue 2: (possible driver related)
when having two "Hauppauge pctv nanostick t2 290e usb-tuner" attached to the vu+ ultimo
the second usb-tuner is not giving me any picture on screen, only black screen, signal quality and strength is OK

Tested as follows:

Disable your standard dvb-c/t tuners (slot a-c) so only your dvb-s2 and usb tuners is enabled.

Test 1:
Disable tuner D (usb-tuner 1) so only your dvb-s2 and tuner E (usb-tuner 2) is enabled, and then reboot
Then the usb-tuner 2 is not giving me any picture on screen, only black screen, signal quality and strength is OK
then I disconnected usb-tuner 1 (pulled out the usb-tuner 1)
did not reboot, still no picture, signal quality and strength is OK
Enabled tuner D (Tuner E is still precent and enabled, due to missing reboot (as expected))
did not reboot, then the picture came back on screen OK

Test 2:
Recording a DVB-T channel
Watching another DVB-T channel on the same transponder is OK
Watching another DVB-T channel on another transponder
Then the usb-tuner 2 is not giving me any picture on screen, only black screen, signal quality and strength is OK

It's NOT RECOMMENDED to disable the slot tuners A-C but disable it via Enigma2 GUI!

Hi angelofsky1980

Any news ?

Please let me know, if I can assist you in any way
Testing and reporting back to you

Could it help, if I took out (removed) the standard dvb-c/t slot tuner, instead of disable it,
and start my tests all over again ?

Best regards

Max number of tuners supported depends on Linux internal configuration. Originally Enigma was configured for 4 tuners only (Linux V4L-DVB for 8 tuners). I try to find actual number of tuners supported.

In Kernel 3.3.6-1.2 in file linux/drivers/media/dvb/dvb-core/dvbdev.h is defined "#define DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS 8".
But this is valid only in case, when there isn't an variable (CONFIG_DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS) or has some number <> 0, which will configure max. number of tuners.
In this version in file ...../media/dvb/Kconfig is defined:

config DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS
int "maximum number of DVB/ATSC adapters"
depends on DVB_CORE
default 8
range 1 255
help
Maximum number of DVB/ATSC adapters. Increasing this number
increases the memory consumption of the DVB subsystem even
if a much lower number of DVB/ATSC adapters is present.
Only values in the range 4-32 are tested.
If you are unsure about this, use the default value 8

So, depends on kernel configuration and by default, there is a limit of 8 tuners.

BH1.7.9 for ultimo is on kernel 3.1.1
how can i check the value of DVB_MAX_ADAPTERS
if the value is lower than 5, i guess that could be the cause of my problems

Best regards

Solution for PCTV 290e problems would be, that Black Hole Team adds to image the function "preferred tuner", like OpenPLi and OpenAAF have in their images.

Thanks for replying

Why do you think, that should solve anything ?

I do not know what the function "preferred tuner" is/do/can do

But the normal "Tuner handling system" selection/priority/reservation/dataflow
, do normally work like a charm (Slot tuners)

But when having 2 x "Hauppauge pctv nanostick t2 290e usb-tuner"
Somehow it seems, that some parts of the "Tuner handling system", knows that there is "2 x Hauppauge tuners", where other parts of the "Tuner handling system", do not

Looking forward to a solution

Could you try with BH 2.0.1 ? (new drivers inside).
Are they on USB hub or separated USB inputs?
Thanks for replying
They are on a unpowered USB hub

I haven't had time to do the tests all over again on BH2.0.1
I will do that in the weekend, and report back

Try them on separated USB inputs, or POWERED hub, could be problem of power, they sucks a lot and hub can give you only 0,5 Amps in total.

Try it on separated USB slots or on a powered hub. One USB slot can give to you 5V and 0,5A, that is 2,5W. Your ONE tuner needs about 2W at work (watching or recording a channel), that means 4W for TWO (OUT OF USB Specifications!). In standby it's about 0,05W (during boot or when tuner is not decoding).
Please, at first, GIVE THE POWER TO YOUR TUNERS!
I hope, that there isn't anything else on your unpowered hub (WiFi, USB key, mouse, keyboard, etc.)
