FPGA upgrade + 1.78 = DVB-T issues

am having the exact same prob myself. Irish dtt glitching . Love to know how to resolve. Works fine when aerial plugged direct into tv. Has to be tuner issue or something

Are you on 1.78?
Did you upgrade the FPGA?
Was it perfect before the FPGA upgrade?

What I download it stay on hdd until I run out of space :) You are simply lucky that I still have it. Only if it helped you, of course :)
This particular file become handy several times.

Thank you so much Miky28. I didn't want to flash it without double checking that it was good!

I will give it a go this evening - fingers crossed!

Hi everybody.
I 've the same problem with DVB-T channels (all) and with few channels from HotBird 13E transponder 1141 (Canal+ Film HD, Mininini +HD, Ale Kino HD, teletoon HD - all Cyfra+ with higher bit rate) on my VU+ Ultimo. I think my problem starts when I've change software to BH 1.78 and then upgrade fpga to 4.5. Now I've try BH 1.79 and did fpga update once again but with no luck - problem still exists. I also have VU+ Solo and all above sat channels work perfect.

Welcome to the (apparently very small) club Jacek!

I haven't yet managed to try Miky28's 4.4 FPGA downgrade. Even though it only takes a few seconds, I need to ensure my dependents are not expecting to watch TV for a while so I can impliment disaster recovery if necessary :)

I found that using a 20dB line attenuator improved the problem on DVB-T although it does not fix it.

I think you will not be able to downgrade fpga t0 ver. 4.4 because in Miky28's zip "TS_PRO.dat.md5" file is missing. Am I right?

I created the necessary md5 file, using f3f970396fc6af8c4ceeea56fa7071c6 as the checksum.

The upgrade started, warning me that I shouldn't stop once it commenced.
I pressed OK, and almost immediately an error message was generated.

For a heart stopping moment I wondered if I had toasted the Ultimo.....

However, I rebooted and it boots up ok. No firmware change took place. Perhaps it is not possible to roll back to a previous FPGA?

I did the same and had the same result. So, it's not possible to downgrade or file is corrupted. I also tried different driver versions with no luck. Right now I have no idea what I can check.
Perhaps this issue will be notice by developers.

Two DVB-S and one DV B-T. Satellite dish 110cm with 2 converters (Astra19.2 and HB13) and terrain aerial - all connected to multiswitch. Today I was checking all my infrastructure and I turf out short satellite cable extensions and after that channels on 11411 H started working, but before update works with this extensions. So, probably after update fpga or/and drivers tuners have less sensitivity- is it possible?
On DVB-T tuner I still have problem with reception.
On most channels on DVB-S tuner SNR is 86 and AGC is 79
On 11411H channels SNR is 70 and AGC is 74 and now working
On DVB-T SNR is 63 and AGC changes between 35-65 and not working well.
I haven't change my infrastructure for 2 or 3 years and other tuners ( eg. VU+Solo) work well.

Vu+Solo has different structure than Ultimo and some differences are expected.
Have you the possibility to try with another DVB-T tuner on your Ultimo?
Can you make some tests with an USB DVB-T tuner?
Can you connect your DVB-T antenna to Ultimo without the Multiswitch?

I'll look around if someone in my location can brow my DVB-T tuner or USB DVB-T tuner.
I'll do tests without multiswitch, but DVB-T tuner in my tv set work properly and it's connected cross VU+ Ultimo.

Thank you for the excellent advice Angelofsky1980.

I connected a Nova-T USB stick to the Ultimo which it picked up as tuner D.
It appears to be working perfectly.

The configuration is as follows:

Signal from aerial is split via a Triax AB splitter.
Feed A goes into a 20dB attenuator (fully wound back) and into the Ultimo DVBT module.
Feed B goes into the Nova-T directly.

Nova-T reads SNR between 64% and 69%, AGC a constant 55%. Picture is perfect.
Ultimo tuner reads SNR 83% (attenuated), AGC wildly fluctuates between 3% and 96%. Occasional regular glitching.

The reason I attenuate the signal to the ultimo tuner is because it seems to decrease the severity and frequency of the glitching. SNR was 99% without the attenuator.

angelofsky1980 Thank you for help. Problem was with level of terrain TV signal. My tv set needs less level than VU+ Ultimo, so I had good reception on TV and bad on VU. I've changed aerial amplifier and now looks good.
Now SNR and AGC is around 80. Very odd that problem I've noticed after FPGA update. I hope it will work. Thx once again.

I did more tests for others who have similar problem - First DVB-S tuner was connected to socket (which is dedicates to work with multiswith) and second DVB-S tuner directly to multiswitch. After FPGA update something happens probably with voltages or currents which drives multiswitch or LNB. I disconnect second DVB-S tuner and then tuners DVB-T and DVB-S on 11411 channels start working properly. The same happens when I disconnect only cable shield from second tuner. Funny thing is that second tuner works properly without shield connected, also on 11411H channels. I just add socket and this issue disappear.
