HowTo Connect your PC to your Vu+ box (with FTP)

Ok. I thiink i understand.
So theres no need for a LAN.
I just need to coneect to vu+ with my router. Check my IP on the vu+.
After that on my pc with the ip i can connect directly to the vu+.
My pc has a wireless connection, do i need to use cable to connect the router?
 
No, wirelessly or cabled, your PC and your VU+ are part of the same network. But you have to configure BH. Actually, after first boot, it does it, more or less, by itself.
You can do or verify the LAN configuration by
SETUP/SYSTEM/NETWORK

After this step, it depends on what operative system you use (OsX or Windows) in case you want to save your settings or perform other useful actions. But many operations can be done also from your browser through the same IP address of your VU+ because it opens OpenWebIf, a web-based panel.
Otherwise, under OsX I use iDreamX and DreamboxEdit under Windows (occasionally).
 
Hi.
Anyone knows how to change the FTP and Telnet ports on the VU+Zero with BH image? This will help connecting to the VU from external location more securely.

Hi Is there any way of a direct connection PC to Solo box? I noticed a Serial comm among other interfaces, is it possible with a cross over cable?
 
Hello guys,

I've just got a new VU+ solo2. My friend has the same one. At my friend I can open the VU+ hard drive like a network drive on the Mac OSx. But I can't open my one, on my Mac. My vu+ can discover my Macbook, and my mrs notebook, but our computers can't discover my Vu+ box. I have checked every settings, such as network > shared driver.

And also I can't open my box via ftp. I have tried everything. I have checked everithing.

Anyone any idea?

What is your image? If BH or OBH, have you checked if FTP, NFS and Samba services are enabled and running on your image?
 
Ftp running, nfs running, but im not sure about Samba. I havent seen samba, but maybe i havent look properly. I check it when i get home.

But i still can't connect via ftp.

Looks like i find the problem. My samba is stopped. ( and my friend's samba is running )

But when i press the start button nothing happens. I can change the autostart, but i cant start samba. So annoying.

What can I do now?
 
I had a similar problem with FTP service. There is an experimental way to solve that but if your box is new and you haven't done much work there, the best thing is to reflash it.
Otherwise you can try to flash only the kernel: create the usual structure in your pendrive (vuplus/"name of your box") and there put only
kernel_cfe_auto.bin
reboot.update

But, I repeat, is unofficial, so don't kill me if something goes wrong ;)
And, anyway, just in case, perform a FullBackup of your current situation to be able to get back to this point.

First of all this software is only for Windows and he's got a Mac. (Incidentally, I can recommend iDreamX for many kind of operations).
And, above all, if some service is not running you can try whatever: it won't work.

I can connect with FTP ( File Transfer Protocol with it ), using:

Most used:

1 ) - Dreambox Control Center

2 ) - FTP software like Filezilla or CuteFTP

3 -) Directly on Browser ( Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera, etc )

Case 1:

Via Dreambox Control Center

Connection: PC -> Router -> STB

Hi thank you for excellent guide.Help please i am using filezilla and i go to network, VU duo etc,open etc but cant find cc cam configuration any ideas where it could be hiding i have just flashed blackhole 303 working fine on free channels. regards Phil79
 
Hi everybody! Is it possible to set FlashFXP to transfer between two remote servers when these two remote servers are two hdds connected to Vu+
meaning that they would both have the same ip address and just different paths such as media/hdd and media/usb.
