Hi all, I'm back again with more problems. I updated to 2.0.7 last week and finally got the new image etc etc. I then was able to configure the tuners and get channels re-installed. However now it seems I only have the basic terrestrial channels and it seems I may be missing **** I think. I was told to find it in "Plugins" but there is no option there to get it. Can anyone advise or point me to a thread that details how to do this?

First, you need to read our board rules (point 4): http://www.vuplus-community.net/rules.html
Then, ou are fully OT in this thread.

Dear all,

I had some problems with the receiption of HD channels on my VU+ Solo (image got blocky all the time), although the DVB-S receiver integrated in my LG tv was working fine with my dish setup. So I decided to put the Blackhole 2.0.8 image on my VU+ Solo receiver. Doing this I ran into some problems, which I managed to solve and I want to share it with this forum, so they might help somebody else in the future: (to be honest I am writing this while my receiver is still scanning for channels, so I am not sure if my HD channel problem is solved)

1. I had to try a couple of USB sticks with FAT32 and the blackhole image files in the vuplus\solo subdirectory, before one finally made it to the green blinking light.
2. After succesfully upgrading the image, nothing happened when I rebooted the system. To figure out what happened, I connected the Solo to my laptop over a null-modem RS232 serial cable. I used a terminal program to connect to the serial port with 115200 baudrate, 8 databit, no parity and 1 stopbit with handshaking off.
3. During boot the solo would suddenly stop with the message that it could not mount the root filesystem with ubifs. In another thread on this forum I read that you need to upgrade the bootloader to be able to use the latest blackhole images. My bootloader had builddate 2010 (which I could see in my terminal program, because it is displayed during boot) and the new(er) one had 2011. So I updated the bootloader, reflashed the blackhole image and finally the solo would start up completely and is scanning for channels at the moment!

Hopefully somebody finds this useful in the future.

Kind regards.

Hi Guys,

I own a vu + duo it was working on BH until yesterday, some power cut I think made it unable to boot up.

Now, I have downloaded from web the lastest boot loader, and seems like the USB stick doesnt light up when I plug it in and the red light on the vo+duo stays on and nothing else happens. I just bought the stick and is formated 32FAT.

is the VU Broken?

If anyone willing to help I really appreciated.

Cheers!

I think you should have a look to the thread http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/vu-duo-is-dead.3616/

Mito,
thanks for the answer. I have open the box, as the HDD did not power up, to check the power supply, and seems like the 12/24/3.3 doesnt provide any DC, only one of the 5V is on. that tells me that the PSU is gone, and hopefully the motherboard in still in good working mode. I have ordered another PSU, I shall come back and let you know what I have done.

Your are OT in this thread, please use the thread I've linked in my previous post for your issue.

How to flash a Vu+?
The Openvix show how to flash the Duo2, and I have used this to help a friend to upgrade his Vu+ Solo2 to Black Hole 2.0.8 or 2.0.9. He has installed Black Hole 2.0.7 in his STB.
So far, we have had no success, and we do not know what we are doing wrong?

When we have "copied the entire vuplus folder directlly to the USB stick" and have controll, it shows: F: \vuplus\solo2
and: initrd_cfe_auto
reboot.update
splah_cfe_auto
kernel_cfe_auto
root_cfe_auto

We have tried two different memory-sticks with the same result, and the message "starting" show on the front of the receiver when we flash.
The dealer has been contacted, but we are still confused in this matter.

A good advice will be most appreciated from all of us; my friend together with his wife and I myself.

Regards
Lark

@Lark : Try to flash 2.0.6 ;). If you'll have success, check here http://www.vuplus-community.net/board/threads/how-to-detect-solo2-clone-box.16332/ genuinity of your friend's Solo2.

Paolino, thanks for the advice!

The box is no clone.
We have tried to flash the Solo2 again, but still there is no response.
As we now do understand when flashing, first the box shows "starting" in front and than "update-----"(push the "button") when it's working.
Now we will try new memory-sticks.

Regards
Lark

@Lark : I'm happy, that it's not a clone :). The best sticks are low capacity (2 GB or less).

Paolino

An "old" memorystick with 1 GB capacity helped with the upgrading today. The only problem was some lacking information from the dealer.
Anyway, my friends are happy with the result tonight.

Regards
Lark
