but this is how i made it happen ....
1) turn OFF the main power switch from the back panel
2) insert the USB stick into the front panel
3) about 30 seconds later, turn ON the main power switch back
thats it.
so i guess all types of USB 2.0 stick would work in this way!?

That's the normal way it should be done.
Have there been confusion about the 2 power switches/button?
I made that mistake and ended up in your situation

Tuner A = 16/1 LNB (Diseqc 1.1)
Tuner B = 2 LNB (Diseqc 1.0)

LNB: 1-16
Committed Diseqc command: None
Diseqc Mode: 1.1
Fast Diseqc: Yes
Command order: Uncommitted, Committed, Toneburst
Uncommitted Diseqc command: 1-16, use the same as the chosen LNB (1-16).
I got caught out with a usb stick plugged in the back while I tried flashing on the front port purely because I transferred all the cable's usb stick etc from my duo to the duo2 but I got there in the end you can usually find the answer on here most helpful forum I have ever been a member of by a long way

You don't turn the box off with the button on the front, it is just set to passive sleep mode.
The power switch on the back is the way to turn them off and then on.
I'm glad that it finally went well for you.
With my DUO2 it just went perfectly fine on the first try, I know that isn't going to make you happy but it shows that if you do it properly there isn't anything wrong with the DUO2.
I found it much easier to flash an image somebody else had configured first (bacup) then I had a better idea where a lot of things were and how to alter then once I flashed a clean image I wasn't totally lost as I had an understanding of whats what not that I am an expert now but I can set up a clean image without much trouble now inc my prefered plugins etc. what you cant do is prepare yourself for new issues as they arise but as ever the guys that offer help on here are brill and I have never seen them defeated yet so keep at it m8 you will get there then you will wonder what you ever struggled with
