new source to build your satellites.xml files.

xml file iv been told to put my new xml file to to etc/engin2 and in to /etx/tuxbox were is the proper place to put the xml file I'm using the latest blackhole h image

Original location is /etc/tuxbox. But satellites.xml in this location are overwritten by system, when updates. So if you want to manage your satellites.xml yourself you must put it to /etc/enigma2 folder - system first checks here, and only if here is nothing, then in /etc/tuxbox. But, if you put your own satellites.xml to /etc/enigma2, do not forget to update it by hand! It wouldn't be updated by system here (but used precisely this)
 
I finally decided to try this customized satellites.xml but, wherever I put it (etc/tuxbox or etc/enigma2) and despite it contains every existing transponders, either the manual scan (by predefined transponders) or the signal finder, don't use them.
I'm surely doing some mistake but which one?

the easiest is with dreamboxedit
download the sat list from the receiver
replace satellites.xml (backup first if you like to restore old one)
Upload sat list with dreamboxedit
 
Yes, I uploaded, of course (trying the first time to replace the original one located in /etc/tuxbox and, the 2nd time, deleting it and uploading in etc/enigma2 (obviously restarting the GUI, afterwards).
In both cases, nothing changed in the predefined transponders.

That was the same mistake I did when I first uploaded to etc/enigma2. :)
You should make a real cold "reboot", not "restart GUI", it doesn't suffice like sending files with Dreamboxedit.
I think the system only 'sees' the new satellite.xml placed at etc/enigma2 after a complete restart, not only GUI.
Just send it to etc/enigma2 and reboot, that's what I'm doing and it works, you wouldn't need to do anything with the one at etc/tuxbox.
 
OK: I now rebooted twice: one with satellites.xml in etc/enigma2 and the last in etc/tuxbox but the predefined transponders are not the ones listed. So, now, I don't know what else try. And, above all: where on earth OBH gets these predefined transponders from if it doesn't use my file? ;)

rename the satellites.xml file to satellites.bak
upload your new satellites.xml
telnet two commands one by one
init 4
reboot
 
OBH is the same and working 100%

Before noticing you had written the #30-#32 posts, I had already done another try, just for curiosity: I had deleted my satellites.xml from everywhere just to check if the image ever reads some internal database. Now I'm sure it's not so because I was left only with the terrestrial channel. So I transferred back MY satellites.xml (because, anyway, I had already overwritten the original one after having saved it. So, I suppose, it's not needed to have it there to rename at this point, am I right Matrix?
After, I found your new posts 30-32 and, as the customised satellites.xml was already in etc/tuxbox, I just sent the two commands you suggested by telnet.
But, still, the predefined transponders from OBH don't match the ones listed in my file. There are many missing.
Just for your curiosity, I'll attach my file.

I think your satellites.xml is not OK
all transponders with modulation="2"/>
all transponders with modulation="1" you can find in manual scan transponders

example from your satllites.xml 13 E

in the settings list from @likra
I see next 13E

But I'm not a settings expert.
 
I've now tested satellites.xml from @likra
The situation is the same.
It seems that Predefined transponder in Manual scan can not read this lines with
modulation="2" or lines with longer params exmple pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
Why is that so I do not know

So there is no problem in transferring satellites.xml to box
but in the reading satellites.xml

I think satelites.xml is good for satellite scanning.
But the selection of transponders to scan is not possible in manual scan if you have lines with pilot="2" rolloff="0"/>
modulation="2" ....
 
OK. As far as someone knows, is there another affordable website to generate customised files?
Yesterday I tried another one (satellites-xml.eu) but the result was the same.
Otherwise it's better to use the original file from the image ;)

If there are new transponders it is better to use new satellites.xml
for scanning the entire satellite.
For the rest you can use the User defined transponder if you cannot use Predefined transponder.
