Review Vu+ Solo2 By Black Hole

I have made a new Build of the BH image with the new dirvers and transcoding plugin.
I will leave the report to Ev0
:D

Ok so I have only done a quick test so far, but I can confirm that the new transcoding function is working with my iPad :D

The quality is downgraded at the moment, but obviously this is still in very early beta stages, and i'm sure that the quality will get better with each update they do.

As for PIP, I have no issue's with getting 2 HD channels to work, on the same transponder or on a different transponder / satellite.

That is great news about transcoding. Can you confirm that it was outside of your home network, over the internet?
We're you able to change channels?
Thanks for the info.

Yes it will work from inside and outside of my home network, so also does work over the internet with the correct ports open. It also works via 3g (although this obviously isn't perfect).

Anyone with this new box can do a quick media player test with some different type of data content? :)

Thanks!

mkv, avi, mp4, flac, mp3 all work fine.

wmv is not seen though.

What about playing ISO images of DVD, BD and BD-3D movies:
- Does 3D work with all variants (left/right swap, Menu's with/without JAVA, Menu's being 3D themselves)?
- Can external subtitle files be used with these images? If yes which formats?
- Is there support for FULL MENU processing for DVD/BD. Current DVD Menu support is minimal/basic) with DVD player?

Support of the above via HDMI 1.4 means it is a real media player next to a STB.:)

No no no.
You have only a powerful hardware.
The only change in software is 1080p support and transcoding support for now.

Good answer. Thanks!

Adding new functionality in smaller steps is a solid strategy. Will be waiting patiently for futher expansions.
Anyway waiting for the DUO2 :D but these will be similar if not identical.

Thanks Ev0. Thats enough for me! ;)

And my last question before buying this piece of art: Is this new Vu+ able to work with subtitles too??

Thanks!
